Expert advice on nutrition, holistic wellness, science-based physiology hacks, sustainability, and actually doable home workouts.
The title says it all: we'd like to share with you 6 of the top podcasts and YouTube channels that we're big fans of. Time, place, and mood will make a difference for each of these, but all together, we believe they can enrich your life. Several of these shows exist on multiple platforms as well, so we'll do our best to provide the different ways you can listen and watch.
1. Nutrition Facts with Dr. Gregor | Podcast
Official "About" Excerpt:
"Have you ever wondered if there’s a natural way to lower your high blood pressure, guard against Alzheimer's, lose weight, and feel better? Well as it turns out there is. Michael Greger, M.D. FACLM, founder of NutritionFacts.org, and author of the instant New York Times bestseller 'How Not to Die' celebrates evidence-based nutrition to add years to our life and life to our years."
Lots of good things to say about this guy and his podcast:
✅ Everything is backed by science and he cites his sources, which are usually medical and scientific studies (as opposed to some magazine article or random website).
✅ This podcast and the website/organization it falls under, NutritionFacts.org, are a genuine public service, and in keeping true to his mission of providing free, high-quality, science-based nutrition education, there are no commercials and product plugs.
✅ The episodes are short and therefore easy to digest (no pun intended, but we'll take it!). Most episodes are around 10 minutes and some around 20.
✅ We just really appreciate what he's doing overall, because nutrition is legit science, which can be overwhelming and requires specialization — there's A LOT of complexity there. So it's wonderful that someone qualified is breaking down nutrition for the rest of us.

2. Huberman Lab | Podcast
Official "About" Excerpt:
"The Huberman Lab Podcast, hosted by Dr. Andrew Huberman, discusses neuroscience—how our brain and its connections with the organs of our body control our perceptions, our behaviors, and our health. The podcast also discusses tools for measuring and changing how our nervous system works.
Dr. Andrew Huberman is a tenured professor of neurobiology and ophthalmology at Stanford University School of Medicine. His laboratory studies neural regeneration, neuroplasticity, and brain states such as stress, focus, fear, and optimal performance. For more than 20 years, Dr. Huberman has consistently published original research findings and review articles in top-level peer-reviewed journals, including Nature, Cell, Neuron, and Current Biology. He is a regular member of several National Institutes of Health review panels and a Fellow of the McKnight Foundation and the Pew Charitable Trusts. Dr. Huberman regularly consults for technology development companies, professional athletic organizations, and various units of the United States and Canadian Special Operations."
We have a lot of the same positive thoughts on Huberman and his content as we do Gregor:
✅ Science-backed with legit sources.
✅ Breaks down complex science into applicable practice for bettering oneself.
✅ We really appreciate his mission of delivering high-quality science education to the public at no cost.
Huberman's podcast episodes are on the long side, usually anywhere from 1 to over 2 hours long, and you're definitely going to grab a pen and notebook to take notes. He clearly puts a lot into these episodes, which makes evident his passion and dedication, and the concentrated listener can get a lot out of them. He delivers fascinating concepts and advice on how to apply science to live better.
He does have sponsors and there's a pretty long segment (around 5 - 10 minutes) of each episode where it's just sponsor plugs in the beginning after introducing the episode topic, but we get it - he should be compensated for sharing his knowledge. We don't fault him for it and at least he gets it over with in one segment as opposed to podcasts where they take commercial breaks throughout episodes (SO ANNOYING!).

At Greater Goods Convenience, we're science-first, but we do believe in holistic wellness and positive vibes. We believe you should be in-tune with your own mind and body, and the universe at large. There's been enough negativity throughout history, so let's be kind to ourselves, one another, and the earth. Set positive intentions, meditate, fulfill positive prophecies — trust us, you are going to be healthier and happier with a positive mindset than a negative one, and that's a lot of what Sahara Rose is getting at when you boil it down. We're not here to convince you to adopt wu wu ideologies and spirituality, so if it's just not your thing, it's just not your thing, but we recommend giving her a listen if you're interested in seeing what it's all about.
We're also big fans of her plant-based Ayurvedic cook book called Eat Feel Fresh. The recipes are insanely delicious — honestly, we were shocked at just how good everything comes out.
These episodes are usually between 20 minutes and 1 hour in length, and a little more of a casual but very motivational listen. One of the things we like about the host is that she represents a realistic and modern approach to holistic wellness, Ayurveda, and spirituality. She doesn't push unrealistic extremes or ignore modern medicine and science, and she's honest about not being perfect herself.
So, to recap, the big things we like about the Highest Self Podcast:
✅ Casual but highly motivational listen. You just feel better when you listen to it!
✅ Great source on holistic wellness and spirituality to live a more fulfilled and positive life.

5. Team Body Project | YouTube Channel
Official "About" Excerpt:
"High energy, motivating workouts to do from home. We created Team Body Project to share our passion for exercise and excellent movement with others who want to feel good about their body and experience great health.
Our holistic exercise programme includes HIIT cardio, resistance training, pilates and yoga."
We really love these guys for low-impact and/or beginner home workouts. There are 20-, 30-, 40-, and even some 60-minutes workouts of varying difficulty, and pretty much every workout can be dialed up or down as much as your body needs. They make it easy to build a consistent home workout routine. Whether you're just getting into working out for the first time, the first time in a while, or needing a little extra motivation some days, their channel is a great way to ensure you get in some daily movement — they're not too intense, but you will sweat! AND, Daniel is sharing words of positive encouragement and motivation throughout, which is a nice touch when you're alone in your living room and tempted to give up and head for the kitchen 😅!
They've got a good number of free workouts on their YouTube channel, and if you're interested in a little more, they have additional services on their website, which we can't speak to because we haven't tried them, but we assume they're good, because their YouTube workouts are so great!
The quick takeaways of what we love about Team Body Project:
✅ Super approachable home workouts that help build consistency.
✅ Positive encouragement to help you get through those low-energy days.

6. TIFF x DAN | YouTube Channel
Official "About" Excerpt:
"Welcome to our channel! We are two madly in love idiots sharing at home workouts + our favorite healthy meals. We never thought that 2020 would have us stepping away from the gym + getting creative with at home workouts, but here we are determined to make the best of it. Staying active and doing daily at home workouts is a huge part of how we are staying sane during this weird period of time, so we will be sharing our favorite at home workouts - think at home HIIT workouts, full body workouts, no equipment workouts, band workouts, dumbbell workouts, upper body workouts, lower body workouts, low impact workouts, and ALL the abs workouts you can think of! Total abs workout, upper abs workouts, lower abs workouts, oblique abs, intense abs workout, beginner abs workout, 5 min abs workout, 8 min abs, 10 min abs workout, YOU GET THE IDEA. ;)"
We really love these guys, too! Let's just say their workouts HIIT different. We can't recommend these two enough if you're trying to get a little more serious about your at-home fitness routine.
First of all, they pumped out A LOT of great, free workouts on their YouTube channel over the pandemic... like a lot a lot. The selection of workouts is super impressive and they are quality. There's upper abs, lower abs, all the abs, just the biceps, lower body, full body... everything, you name it. Trust us, you will be sweating and you will be sore.
The workouts range from just 5- to10-minute abs, up to hour-long HIIT, so again, tons of options and combinations from which to choose. And, in direct contrast to Team Body Project, these videos have 0 (zero) talking and super high-energy music, which is great when you're really in the zone and don't necessarily want to hear someone talking to you 😬.
For people just starting out, these workouts might be a bit too intense to jump right into or possibly even dangerous if you're not careful with your form when using weights, so just be careful and always remember to listen to your body's limits.
To recap, we love TIFF x DAN because:
✅ Amazing variety of free, quality home workouts to choose from.
✅ Great pump-up jams while you're sweating all over your living room!
